He has worked as a Petroleum Engineer on six continents, contributing to technical and economic evaluations for National Oil Companies in regions such as the Gulf of Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. His expertise extends to unconventional shale and reservoir management, having overseen significant growth at Endeavor Energy Resources in the Permian Basin.

Richard Scherer is the Reserves Manager at Endeavor Energy Resources with 36 years as a Petroleum Engineer. He has worked as a Petroleum Engineer on 6 continents. Raised in the global oil industry through his father’s career with SEDCO Drilling, Richard developed a lifelong interest in all aspects of the field. Over the years, Richard has held diverse professional roles in production, drilling and completions, reservoir engineering, and business development. He has also served as co-founder of a private company and as an officer of a publicly traded E&P firm.
His career has taken him far beyond the U.S., with hands-on experience in regions including Western Canada, Alaska, the Gulf of Mexico, Russia, Argentina, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Australia, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. Before moving to Midland in 2014, Richard worked in Houston as a Global Partner in Halliburton’s Consulting & Project Management Division, where he played a key role in large-scale evaluations and mentoring programs, particularly in collaboration with Saudi Aramco and the Saudi Ministry of Petroleum.
From 2014 to 2023, Richard was with Endeavor Energy Resources LP, a privately held operator in the Permian Basin. During that time, the company grew significantly, drilling over 1,000 horizontal wells. Today, Richard continues his work in the oil and gas industry as an independent consultant, supporting both domestic and international projects.
