System Requirements for PHDwin V3

These system requirements are for a local installation of MS SQL on the same machine as PHDwin. These requirements do not support a local area network instance installation, a wide-area network instance installation, or hybrid cloud deployment.

Processor:

Intel i3 Processor or better.

16 GB RAM or better.

To ensure optimal performance, increase memory as the size of the database grows.

500 GB SSD.

If the size of your data sets grows, you may need to upgrade your hard disk

Operating System

Windows 10 (64 bit) or newer.

Microsoft SQL Server

PHDwin requires Microsoft SQL Server Express or Full version 2012 or later. please visit Microsoft’s website, or click here to navigate there.

Monitor

PHDwin requires a monitor with a minimum screen resolution of 1920×1080. Higher resolutions are recommended for optimal display.

How To Improve Performance

To achieve optimal performance with PHDwin, we recommend the following upgrades, in order of importance:

  1. Dedicated server for your PHDwin databases
  2. Hard Disk – upgrade to a Solid State Drive for faster read/write speeds
  3. Processor – upgrade to at least an i5 or i7 quad-core processor to improve the speed of economic runs. PHDwin’s economics engine is capable of parallel processing and efficiently using all cores available on the computer.
  4. Network – upgrade to a Gigabit connection to improve data transfer rates
  5. Memory – upgrade to at least 32 GB RAM to ensure smooth performance, particularly with larger datasets.\
  6. Upgrade to Full SQL Server – Recommended for data sets of more than 5,000 cases.
 

By providing a dedicated server with solid state drives, multi-core processor, and gigabit network connection, you can significantly improve the speed and efficiency of PHDwin.
